"Hi, Clara, I sent a message to the Looper website about how much we appreciate all that was done for us in the recent Looper gathering, but I want to be sure I reach you, as well, with my thanks. Roger and I had never been to a Looper event before and we were blown away by what we found in Port St. Joe. It was clear that many people, though mostly you I think, had worked their bungees off to make it so great and everyone was talking about that. I know all of us left with fond memories of Port St. Joe and we will want to come again if Life and the Loop let us. Thanks again." Marcia - Ami de la Mer

"The mini-rendezvous provided great fun, pertinent information and delicious food. It was also good to meet several couples that were new AGLCA members and were attending their first Looper event. Dockmaster Clara did an excellent job organizating the entire weekend and is already planning for the mini-rendezvous in Port St. Joe next year. The town of Port St. Joe is very friendly. Many of the town merchants provided gifts, gift certificates and services at a discount. And for this we say Thank You to Port St. Joe and to Clara. It was a splendid weekend."

"The Looper event this time was our first and it was wonderful. We were blown away by all the work and preparation that had been done for all of us; in our former lives, most of us probably helped with similar events, so we know it doesn't just happen by itself. We will keep Pt. St Joe on our list of places to come back to, maybe even hang out for awhile after we do the Loop. Thanks to all who made it possible, you are the greatest!" - Marcia and Roger Krueger

"As we wend our way along the GIWW back home to Panama City this Sunday morning, Mary and I would like to extend our thanks to Clara and the staff of Port St Joe Marina (the friendliest marina on the Gulf Coast) for an excellent event. The weather cooperated (up until this afternoon), and everybody seemed to have a good time. We would have liked to spend a lot more quality time with all the wonderful Loopers we met, but there were so many of us it was just not possible. Thanks again to all for the pleasure of your company, and we extend to you the traditional Navy wish of 'fair winds and following seas.'"

Excellent marina
Stayed for two days to get groceries, propane, fuel, and pump out. Upon arrival, two staff members were there to help us tie up and direct us to the office. Office staff friendly and very helpful, answering all our questions. Loaner bikes were excellent to run errands and see the town. Town had everything for which we were looking. On site bar was wonderful; we had a delicious meal. Restaurant staff was also very friendly. Marina manager, Dean, supplied us with a newspaper and weather forecast daily. All
facilities were clean and well kept. The Gifted Gourmet in town is a great little shop. They helped us select items and wrapped and shipped them for us. If we are ever this way again, we will definitely stop in!

One of the Best
We stayed here for 3 nights. Delightful town with many amenities. Good food at the marina bar & grill. Try the house made smoked tuna dip! The warm pumpkin pie delivered on Wednesday evening was so appreciated. The marina staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Docks were in excellent shape.

Worth The Ride Down The Ditch. What a treat...newspaper and weather forecast on the boat every morning and a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving! Dean and the staff went all out for the loopers there during the holiday weekend. Don't miss St. Joe either.
Bad Andy

We were headed toward Apalach and made a last minute decision to divert to Port St. Joe to wait out a week of bad weather. We were so glad that we did. Dean, Lisa, John and rest of staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. Their mechanics, Robert and son Tim, were very helpful with a number of issues on looper boats that were there with us. Great town with all that you need within walking distance, including Pig Wig, Ace Hardware, Auto Parts stores, sporting goods stores, great restaurants, biking/hiking trails, beach park, hot fishing spots and very friendly people. Marina has easy access and is very well maintained. No courtesy car, but everything was within easy walking distance. Thanks staff for the great pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. We were thankful for our time at this wonderful town and marina.

Clara, Thought I would drop a note to let you and all along the Gulf Coast know how great your marina and overall operation is. I have trailered my Telstar to the Gulf and sailed from Mobile to Dog Island. I have done this for 4 years running and stayed at every marina along the way. I have found you, your staff the friendliest, most welcoming of all. The locals, such as Terrell Adams, can not be beat for advice and helpful knowledge. I look forward to visiting again as I find the PSJ Marina the best location and beautiful sailing waters of any.

We just wanted to take a moment to thank you and your staff for everything you've done to make our arrival in Port St Joe a pleasure.

Even though it was a busy Memorial Day weekend, the facilities were kept clean and your staff was helpful with all of our needs. You really are the friendliest marina on the Gulf, and your facilities are second to none in the area.

We have experienced true "customer service", from you and your entire staff. Thanks,

To whomever tries to attract tourist to St. Joe;

We just spent our second week at Port St. Joe Marina, the first being in February while passing through., This trip the marina was our destination and we brought two other boats with us. Next time it will be more boats. We ate in most of the restaurants, bought provisions at the pig, auto zone and blue water. In essence, spent money for your economy.

The reason we made the marina our destination is because we were treated so great. They tried to take care of our every need, always with a happy smile that was genuine. They truly were happy to see boaters.

I think you should do more to let people know about the marina and town. They are a true asset to your community and wonderful people. We will be back.

Sunday 02-05-12: Awoke to a wonderful delight, the marina left a bag on our deck with a Sunday paper, current/forecast NOAA weather print outs, and TWO OTIS SPUNKMEYER MUFFINS!!!   Unexpected makes niceties turn into delights because we had no idea they did this every Sunday.

This is by far the best marina we have been to and we expect Port St. Joe to be the trip highlight. The staff here falls all over themselves trying to please us even more than they already have. I even asked if they have any openings for employment, with free dockage, of course. The dockmaster said, "Sure, check back tomorrow! (tomorrow never comes cause it is today when it gets here)", showing they have a sense of humor to boot, I'll have to be on my toes.

The water, buildings and grounds are absolutely spotless, most other marinas are clean but this place shines. Make sure this becomes a destination, it has with us. Their website is and said they will do deals for a group of cruisers (nautacop), that Panama City Yacht Club and Pensacola Yacht Clubs come over all the time, just give plenty of notice for groups.

We met several boaters here and they are all wonderful people, very friendly and helpful even after I corrected their pronunciation of "Biluxi" and "Misippi". We walked the town today. They have miles of wide two lane bike/walking paths, cute little streets with old timey store fronts. Palm trees line many of the streets and you can hear the wind as it breaks going through the pines and palms, really quiet place. All the people we met were friendly, helpful and spoke to us with a smile, except for a few obvious snow birds visiting from Massachusetts. We are supposed to go to the Port Inn with other boaters to watch the Super Bowl tonight but is still iffy with us since we don't follow pro football except the Saints and then it is
a religion and we are usually asleep by 9:00pm.

We had a great time, Clara. Your staff went out of their way to accommodate us. For example, Steven who served our lunch at the dockside cafe. This young man was so polite and attentive. Your harbor master and his helper bent over backwards for us from hauling out our tender to helping me get away from the dock and out of the marina safely in 40 knot winds. Ima Jean has that great down home personality to greet your guest and make sure they have everything they need. Being a business owner I saw Passion in your staff. Passion can not be taught to someone. They either have it or not. Your entire staff has it; passion for the job, the marina, food services, guest relations, and most of all safety! Being from the area we expect that down home hospitality and you exceeded our expectations. Job well done. We will be back next summer to spend a week at your marina.

This letter will be totally inadequate to express what a wonderful time the members of Bay Point Yacht Club had at PSJ Marina last week, much of which was due to the efforts of you and your staff. The professionalism in helping boaters as they arrived, the check in proceedure and welcome bags had everyone very positive from the first minute. Then you followed up with the Wednesday night reception at Local Color, the morning newspaper and muffins, the discount at the restaurant and the Friday morning send-off breakfast! Wow! It was truly overwhelming.

Thank you so much and we will look forward to visiting again in August for our scalloping trip!

On behalf of the Ft Walton Yacht Club Spring Cruise I extend a hearty thanks to you and your outstanding crew at Port St. Joe Marina. Your staff quickly adjusted to receive us an extra day when we found it necessary to arrive a day early. They also adjusted to add an additional boat that joined our cruise. We were well received on arrival by three members of your staff, who assisted in docking and tying up our boats as we arrived in quick succession. As in years past, Port St. Joe Marina’s welcome and services were first class and contributed much to the overall enjoyment of our Spring Fling. We look forward to returning next year and thank you so much for your hospitality.

Hello, Everyone:

Silver Boots had a long, but very pleasant, crossing to the Other Side. The seas began at less than 2ft dropping to 1ft or less for much of the trip. It doesn't get much better than this. We are anchored in Clearwater, and plan to go outside to Venice tomorrow.

Enjoyed making new friends and catching up with old friends at Port St. Joe Marina. The friendliest marina on the Gulf lived up to it's reputation. We had such a good time biking each day to explore the neat little town. Enjoyed the Chinese New Year feast, breakfast at the Port Inn, oysters at Dockside, and dinner at Sunset Grill; but the best was saved for last at the Marina shrimp boil!

Thanks to everyone for making our stay in Port St. Joe a very pleasant experience.

Until next time . . .

To the employees of the Port St. Joe Marina.

It's interesting that human nature seems to find the time to criticize but less time to say thank you. I want to acknowledge the wonderful time and the great hospitality you served up when a group of AGLCA members met at Port St. Joe Marina. What a great place to have a gathering with a separate building we could use and the friendliness of your staff. Each of you should be personally thanked for a job well done in less than ideal circumstances (rain all weekend).

My wife and I are planning to return again later this year but by boat the next time. We want to make sure that what we enjoyed a couple of weeks ago was real Gust kidding). Your staff is truly sincere in their friendliness and attitude and we want to experience it again. In the meantime keep up the good work.

The Port St. Joe Marina advertises itself as the friendliest marina on the Gulf Coast. We'd differ with that on two points.

First, we would not limit that accolade to the Gulf Coast; Port St. Joe is the friendliest marina anywhere without exception!

Secondly, "friendliest" is not an adequate word. We would use the term "gracious," because everything about this marina is gracious in every way. From the office staff -- manager Clara, Imogene, Lisa, Christie -- who know you by name the second day you're here to the two Johns who work the docks, to Harbor Hosts Ray and Patsy Whitney who do everything from lending their car to Loopers to organizing Christmas dinners -- everything about Port St. Joe makes you feel that you're not just among friends, you are among family.

Sure, there's a grocery store, a movie rental, an ice cream shop, and a hardware store within a couple of blocks. Yes, there are great places to eat within easy walking distance. Yes, there are fabulous sunsets, but the thing that makes Port St. Joe Marina all that it is just people who care - who care about boaters, who care about people, who care about you.

Mr Burt,

The purpose of this email is to commend the staff and management of Port St Joe Marina. My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at your marina. We arrived November 28 and departed December 3.

During this time we experienced the uncommon courtesies that are customary at Port St Joe Marina and very much enjoyed and appreciated our stay. While guests of the marina we also witnessed the marina staff in action preparing for and riding out a few stormy days including a gale. We were favorably impressed with the professional attention to preparation and communication for the benefit of all of the boat owners.

Clara was in constant communication with all boat owners and captains as was her staff including Ima Jean, Lisa and Kristy. John R and John C were very busy with preparations and assisting and checking on the boats. Each of the staff went out of their way to be friendly, helpful and communicative. We appreciate the effort and professional way the duties were handled.

Thank you. It may please you to know that it is our intention to inform boaters that we meet that Port St Joe Marina and its fine staff cannot be topped. You can be assured of our highest recommendation at every opportunity. We look forward to our next visit.

Dear Clara,

In response to your letter thanking us for visiting the Marina, we love the marina and enjoy our stay every time we have an opportunity to drop in. We love the convenience to the services in town, the quaint beauty of St. Joe and the fact that our local friends and relatives are mostly within walking distance. I thought that your rates at the time we stayed there in May were very reasonable and affordable for the average cruiser like us. We generally like to anchor out because that is the reason we cruise, to enjoy nature's beauty and to have our solitude. An occasional Marina stay is nice for resupply and maybe visit a laundry or local restaurant and we don't mind a night or two on the dock as long as the rates are reasonable. I think that is the way most sailboat cruisers feel about marina's and most would probably visit marina's more often if so many of them were not so expensive. Thank you again for your kind letter and for the great facility the PSJ Marina is.

Deborah Ann has moored at Port St. Joe Marina for the past Month. We are not completing the Loop at this time, but wanted to escape the Wisconsin winter and enjoy the warmer weather of the South. Most of the Loopers have passed this point by now, but for those still heading this way, give Port St. Joe a try.

The sign at the harbor entrance says "Port St. Joe Marina, the friendliest marina on the Gulf Coast". I think it should say "on the Great Loop". Port St. Joe Marina is owned and operated by the same companies that own and operate Bay Point in Panama City, which also receives high marks.

The staff has been helpful beyond expectations, the locals have been great. When you arrive you will possibly be greeted by Ray Whitney, commodore of Port St. Joe Yacht Club, a wonderful ambassador of the Port St. Joe area.

There is a grocery store nearby, sporting goods store, laundry, restaurants, and a nice downtown, all within walking distance. Fuel is presently $2.06 for diesel, $3.16 for gasoline, plus sales tax. A discount of .10 per gallon is offered for Boat US/AGLCA members.

Winter slip rate is $1.00 per foot per day, less $.25 per foot lor Loopers. Long term transient rates are very attractive. We plan on staying for another month before heading part of the way back north, and hope to see some Loopers that are continuing South.
